They clearly had both the quality and the quantity all across the board, resulting in an overall fantastic lineup. Among the many titles showcased, one game that left a lasting impression on me was the fast-paced, retro-styled 2D platformer called Katana Zero, developed by Askiisoft. This game, slick and vibrant, immediately reminded me of the cult classic Hotline Miami, and I had such a blast during my play session.

There’s a drug called Chronos that allows the protagonist to manipulate time and foresee the future, although it comes at a cost to his health. As I played Katana Zero, it became clear why many draw parallels to the visual style of Hotline Miami. The game features dark neon colors, pulse-pounding synth music, and pixel art that resonate with retro media aesthetics, such as rewinding cassettes when players die. However, the gameplay introduces a different challenge. Players must navigate a series of rooms filled with enemies while avoiding damage; one hit sends you back to the start. The intense, action-packed gameplay requires quick reflexes and strategic planning, creating a thrilling experience that keeps players on their toes.
